Kidnapping of Two South Koreans

On Friday, July 31, 2026, a vehicle carrying two South Korean nationals was intercepted and kidnapped by heavily armed men near La Paix Hospital in Delmas 33. The police officer assigned to their security was shot while attempting to resist the kidnappers.

MHAVE Connect : The Diaspora App

On Friday, July 31, 2026, Minister J.E. Kathia Verdier of Haitians Abroad (MHAVE) announced the launch of the "MHAVE Connect" app on the App Store and Google Play, with the goal of making MHAVE Connect operational quickly. This app allows Haitians residing abroad to register, share information with the Ministry, and stay connected wherever they are in the world. It will constitute a useful and valuable database at all levels.

More than 30 candidates to replace Migné

Carlo Marcelin, former Secretary General of the Haitian Football Federation and current member of the National Technical Directorate, revealed on a radio station in the capital that more than thirty coaches have submitted their applications to take over the Grenadiers and replace Sébastien Migné. This large number of applications explains the time the FHF is taking to appoint the next coach.

France suspends its funding for the HUEH

France has suspended funding for the reconstruction project of the State University Hospital of Haiti (HUEH). The announcement was made by the French Ambassador to Haiti, Antoine Michon, during a press briefing on Thursday, July 30. The diplomat indicated, however, that the French government did not rule out the possibility of resuming its financial support for this project in the future, if the Haitian authorities request it.

The Prime Minister at Cap-Haitien City Hall

Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé visited Cap-Haïtien City Hall, where he met with Mayor Michel Saint-Croix and his deputies, Edeline Jean and Micardo Vreus. This cordial meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the main projects underway and the development prospects for the North Department. Discussions also focused on the need to strengthen stability, institutional serenity, and coordination between national and municipal authorities to create the conditions conducive to holding credible, inclusive, and peaceful elections. Martelly has left Haiti

On Thursday, July 30, 2026, former President Michel Joseph Martelly left the country aboard a Sunrise Airways commercial flight to Florida.
