On Monday, August 10, 2026, Pédrica Saint Jean, the Minister for the Status of Women and Women's Rights (MCFDF), welcomed the publication by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) of the list of approved political groups for the upcoming elections in Haiti. Of the 15 approved groups, 5 (33%) are led by women.

The Minister considers this progress a concrete illustration of the commitments made during the National Conference on Women's Political Participation and Electoral Violence, held last December. According to the Ministry, the increased presence of women at the head of political structures registered with the CEP demonstrates the positive effects of advocacy efforts promoting more equitable participation of women in national political life.

Group : DEBLOKE : Led by its general coordinator, Marie Yanick Mézile Lhérisson, composed of 11 political parties;

Group : EN AVANT POUR HAITI : Represented by Vilcé Nancy, composed of 12 political parties;

Group : LAPEH AK ALYE’L YO : Represented by Boyer Marie Nelly Verpile, composed of 10 political parties;

Group : ANFÒS POU SOVE LONÈ : Represented by former senator, Gilles Cemephise, composed of 10 parties;

Group : DELIVRANS : Represented by Djina Guillet Délatour, composed of 10 parties.

The Minister made an urgent appeal to Haitian women to register en masse on the electoral rolls; to run for various elected positions; and to actively participate in all stages of the electoral process.

Pédrica Saint Jean took the opportunity to reiterate her willingness to support women engaged in this democratic process. She expressed her confidence in a broad and determined citizen mobilization in favor of more inclusive and equitable political participation in Haiti.
