Haiti - Education : 23,000 textbooks will be loaned in the Central Plateau
The Office of Monetization of Programs of assistance for the Development (Le Bureau de Monétisation des Programmes d’aide au Développement - BMPAD) and the Center for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI-Haiti) have delivered this week at a ceremony over 23,000 textbooks worth 20 million gourdes [41 gourde = ± 1 USD] intended to supply a bank of books who will lease them. This project will benefit students from the 1st to the 6th year of fundamental of 15 community schools, the most disadvantaged, of municipalities of Mirebalais, Saut d’Eau, Boucan Carré, Savanette, Lascahobas and of Cerca La Source, of Central Plateau. School officials concerned will jointly establish regulations to promote access to an annual revolving loan system.

According to Jacquelin Eugène, the project manager of CECI "this bank of loan of textbooks is a step towards the development of the country." For Michael Lecorps Director General of BMPAD "promote access to education for children is one of the major concerns of the Haitian state."

Henriot Nader, Program Coordinator at the level of BMPAD Projects, stated that this project is now seeking the support and participation of community leaders concerned, to reach more than 50 municipalities in 2012.
