116 Haitians Deported from the Bahamas

On Thursday, August 27, 2026, a Bahamasair plane chartered by the Bahamian authorities landed in Cap-Haitien from Nassau carrying 116 Haitian nationals (79 men, 33 women, and four minors) who had been deported from the archipelago due to their irregular immigration status.

Renan Hédouville Arrested in the USA

Former Haitian Ombudsman Renan Hédouville was arrested on August 25, 2026, in Montgomery, Alabama, by U.S. immigration authorities. He is currently being held at the Pickens County Detention Center pending immigration proceedings. According to ICE, Hédouville legally entered the United States in May 2025 but remained there after his admission expired in November of the same year. He is also the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) in Haiti in connection with a corruption case.

NOTICE : Industry Week Postponed

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry informs the public, its institutional and technical partners, representatives of the private sector, and professional organizations that the activities initially planned for Industry Week on September 3rd, 4th, and 5 (https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-48267-industry-week-2026-in-haiti.html) have been postponed to October 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, 2026. All partners, private sector stakeholders, and other interested parties are invited to note the new dates and maintain their commitment to these important events.

Tactical Training for 30 Graduated Police Officers

Tactical training continues at the Morne Cassé Training Center with the graduation of 30 new PNH officers from the SWAT, Anti-Gang Tactical Unit (UTAG), Counter-Ambush Unit (CAT), Departmental Operations and Intervention Brigade (BOID), and Intervention and Research Brigade (BRI) units. The project now includes 206 officers trained together as a single unit.

Haiti on the Security Council Agenda

The US is aware of Article 11 of our Constitution On Thursday, August 27, 2029, among the 57 people deported from the United States were families with children born in the United States and Brazil. It is worth recalling that, according to Article 11 of the current Haitian Constitution, "Haitian nationality by birth is held by any individual born to a Haitian father or a Haitian mother who were themselves born Haitian and had never renounced their nationality at the time of birth."
