More than 8 million registration attempts rejected

Reynold Guerrier, Director General of the National Identification Office (ONI), announced that more than 8 million registration attempts were rejected due to data discrepancies as of September 4, 2026. Nearly 2.5 million of these rejections were related to issues with the National Unique Identification Number (NINU), with some political parties attempting to create (guess or invent) NINUs. In addition, more than 3 million rejections were recorded due to duplicate registrations. In total, only 857,308 members have been validated and registered to date by accredited political organizations.

Canada : Embassy and Consulate closed

The Canadian Embassy in Haiti will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, for Labour Day. It will reopen on Tuesday, September 8. In case of a consular emergency, contact toll-free: +1-613-996-8885 or by email : sos@international.gc.ca. The Consulate General of Haiti in Montreal will also be closed for Labour Day in Canada. The Consular Post will resume operations on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, during regular business hours, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Minister of Justice on tour in the South

Patrick Pélissier, Minister of Justice and Public Security, began a multi-day tour on Wednesday, September 2, in the South and Nippes departments, which will conclude on Monday, September 7. The Minister intends to assess the functioning of the courts and police stations in this region of the country.

Gianni Infantino congratulates our U-14 team

FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced on his Instagram page that he had a meeting with Monique André, President of the Normalization Committee of the Haitian Football Federation. Discussions focused on the future of Haitian football, including institutional issues, governance, and development opportunities for young players. Prospects for Cooperation between the GPE and UNESCO

On Thursday, September 3, 2026, the UNESCO Resident Representative in Haiti, Eric Voli BI, received Nesmy Manigat, High-Level Special Envoy and Education Advisor for the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). This meeting, which Khadim Sylla, Education Sector Coordinator at the UNESCO Office in Haiti, attended remotely, provided an opportunity to discuss prospects for cooperation between the GPE and UNESCO and to explore new opportunities for supporting the Haitian education sector. Discussions focused in particular on strengthening synergies and complementarity of interventions to better support national priorities and efforts to transform the education system in Haiti.

Special Meeting of the Sectoral Security Table

On Thursday, September 3, 2026, the Sectoral Security Table (SST) held a Special Meeting on the situation in Kenscoff to gain a thorough understanding of the facts and find a lasting solution. Beyond the figures of the massacre perpetrated on August 23, 2026, a grasp of the issues at stake (the commune's location, its size, access to other communes in the North and South, political and power struggles, etc...) and the real difficulties faced by the security forces (including the GSF), as well as their limitations, is essential to empower them, implement appropriate actions, and define a medium- and long-term strategy to resolve the problem.
