Kenscoff : 2 massacres, over 164 dead

In July and August 2026, two massacres were perpetrated in the commune of Kenscoff by armed individuals belonging to the Viv Ansanm terrorist coalition. At least 164 people were murdered during these two massacres. Dozens of others are missing. Furthermore, at least 23 people were wounded by gunfire or bladed weapons. Another 71 people were kidnapped, and dozens of houses and vehicles were set on fire. Ouanaminthe : Inspection of fuel entering Haiti

The Northeast Departmental Directorate of Commerce and Industry is launching a series of border inspections to check fuel tanker trucks crossing from Dajabón into Haiti. Through this operation, James Monazard, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, aims to strengthen market oversight to ensure petroleum products are compliant and to protect consumers against the sale of products that do not meet standards in force in Haiti.

Mexico : Military training

On Friday, September 18, 2026, a Mexican delegation will travel to Haiti to oversee the departure of a contingent of Haitian military personnel heading to Mexico for training, as part of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Continuing education for Haitian teachers – registration open

The State University of Haiti and ELMS College are launching a continuing education program for Haitian teachers. Aimed at primary and secondary school teachers who have not received initial teacher training—and particularly encouraging applications from women—this program comprises 15 credits delivered entirely online. It leads to a Continuing Education Certificate, co-signed by both institutions and recognized in both Haiti and the United States. Digicel inaugurates its 199th school

This week, the Digicel Foundation inaugurated its 199th school construction project: the "Institution Chrétienne Enfants de la Promesse" (Children of the Promise Christian Institution), managed by the organization Children of the Promise in the commune of Milot. This new learning space will enable more than 300 students—including children with special needs—to learn in a safer, more suitable, and more inclusive environment. The facility features nine classrooms, administrative offices, sanitary facilities, and landscaped areas.

Paris : Strengthening the Haitian presence at the CIUP

On Thursday, September 17, 2026, the Embassy of Haiti in France held a working meeting with the "Cité internationale universitaire de Paris" (CIUP), represented by Ms. Blandine Sorbe, General Delegate, and Ms. Ana Paixão, Director of Accommodation. Discussions focused on strengthening the Haitian presence within this international campus, which hosts nearly 12,000 students, researchers, and artists of approximately 150 nationalities each year.
