Haiti - Literature : 3rd edition of Festival «Étonnants Voyageurs»
Haiti welcomes in Port-au-Prince, from February 1 to 4, 2012, the third edition of Festival "Étonnants Voyageurs" (Amazing Travellers) under the theme "L’encre est ma demeure" (The ink is my home). 49 literary figures will participate in this important international event, which marks the interest of the Haitian writers to the Haitian population in general and the young students.

Indeed, this third edition of the Festival is an opportunity to mobilize and motivate about 3,000 students across the country as stated the writer Lyonel Trouillot, Director of the Festival "A day will be devoted to school meetings that will take place in ten cities of Haiti: Port-au-Prince, Les Cayes, Jacmel, Hinche, Cap Haïtien, Gonaïves, Jérémie, Limbé, Verrettes, Port-de-Paix. The writers will visit schools, with two meetings per group of writers. This school day is done with the complicity of French Alliances and schools partners of the Festival and will involve a total of 3.000 students [...] This edition 2012 is a challenge, both against the caricature, one might draw from a little known country and against the closure on itself on every word, of any place, and the illustration of the challenge of dialogue possible, already by the arts, of 'all world', that is to say, all these worlds that make the world..."

Dany Laferrière, co-director of the festival stresses that this year, the festival "Dany Laferrière, co-director of the festival stresses that this year, the festival "Étonnants Voyageurs" will pay tribute to Haitian poet Georges Castera, "A life of ink. It is the poet Georges Castera that reminded me the power of the ink. And I saw myself alone on a small island surrounded by ink."

"The impact of this event that promotes exchanges between Haitian and foreign writers, can only be positive for Haitian youth and contribute to a better understanding of the country abroad," declared Pierre Raymond Dumas, the Haitian Minister of Culture .

The festival "Étonnants Voyageurs" will take place primarily on three sites: the French Institute of Haiti, the Fokal and Babako.
