17 Haitian migrants adrift for 7 days

17 Haitian migrants (14 men, one woman, and two minors) who departed from Haiti with the ultimate goal of clandestinely reaching the United States saw their boat veer off course due to adverse weather conditions. After seven days adrift, pushed by strong waves, they finally washed ashore on Siboney Beach, near Santiago de Cuba, where they were rescued. Upon arrival, teams from the Cuban Red Cross and local medical services examined them. Fortunately, no serious health problems that posed an immediate threat to their lives were detected. Cuban immigration services are currently processing their legal status.

Seeking $15 Billion for Education
