Haiti - Industry Week : Guided tour of several companies

On Friday, October 2nd, as part of Industry Week, James Monazard, Minister of Commerce and Industry, accompanied by Serge Gabriel Colin, Minister of Economy and Finance, Pétricks Justin, Director General of the National Industrial Parks Company (SONAPI), and David Coles, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH), conducted a guided tour of several companies located within SONAPI and along a section of the Port-au-Prince Airport Road. Farmatrix, Cintas, DMS S.A., Brana, and the Caribbean Baking Company were among the companies visited.

These visits allowed the delegation to gain firsthand insight into the companies' operations, their production capacities, the challenges they face, and their development prospects, as well as to better understand the conditions necessary for strengthening industrial activity.

During the visit, Minister Monazard emphasized the importance of private investment and its contribution to job creation. He specifically mentioned a company that had invested over US$16 million, considering this commitment a sign of resilience and confidence in the potential of the Haitian economy.

Monazard reaffirmed the Government's commitment to supporting the private sector in its entrepreneurial initiatives and fostering an environment conducive to investment, increased production, and job creation.

The visits also highlighted the diversity of activities and the productive potential of the companies involved. Farmatrix, specializing in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products, generates over 187 direct jobs and has storage facilities, laboratories, and microbiology facilities.

Cintas, for its part, operates in the manufacturing sector and is dedicated to the production of uniforms.

DMS S.A., for its part, manufactures plastic products, including electrical wires, water towers, and waste bins. This diverse production illustrates the manufacturing sector's potential to meet the various needs of the national market.

Brana, specializing in the production of alcoholic and carbonated beverages, employs approximately 800 people. The company has several production units, microbiology laboratories, and storage facilities, with a production capacity exceeding 42,000 bottles per day.

The Caribbean Baking Company S.A., part of the HM Group, also visited during this tour, specializes in candy manufacturing and employs between 600 and 700 people.

These companies contribute to supplying the local market and also participate in developing production for international markets.

Through these visits, the Government aims to better showcase the capabilities of the industrial sector and support companies that contribute to production and job creation. In a context where economic prospects and employment remain paramount concerns, industry is called upon to play a significant role in the national recovery strategy, capable of making a lasting contribution to economic growth, national production, and job creation.
