On October 5 and 6, 2026, in Tabarre and Cité Soleil respectively, within the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area, more than a hundred GSF soldiers, supported by armored vehicles and helicopters, conducted a security operation.

Operating largely on foot, GSF troops expanded their presence into areas inaccessible to armored vehicles, such as narrow passageways and abandoned buildings that could serve as hideouts for armed groups.

During the operation, GSF personnel removed numerous barricades and seized improvised explosive devices, weapons, magazines, ammunition, a radio, two motorcycles, and various other pieces of equipment.

Following clashes with the GSF, several terrorists were fatally wounded, others fled with injuries, and their accomplices left the area. Several terrorists were arrested.

The operation in Tabarre enabled the GSF to expand its presence in the sector and hindered the gangs' ability to move freely and establish defensive positions.

In the early hours of October 6, acting on prior intelligence, GSF soldiers conducted a targeted sweep-and-secure operation along Road Soleil 9, a key corridor providing access to strategic infrastructure and neighboring communities. The operation aimed to retake positions held by gangs, dismantle barricades, disrupt terrorist activities, and reduce their operational capacity in the area. Following the operations conducted in Tabarre and Cité Soleil, the FRG will maintain a reinforced security presence and continue its targeted operations and patrols to consolidate security gains, deter any resurgence of gang activity, and facilitate freedom of movement for the affected communities.

The GSF remains committed to adapting its operations based on evolving threats and available resources, with the aim of helping to strengthen security for the affected communities.
