Former Senator Youri Latortue denies...: Former Senator Youri Latortue categorically denies the accusations made by the United Nations Panel of Experts on Haiti, which links him to the Kokorat San Ras and Raboteau gangs in its report (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-48614-haiti-flash-a-shocking-un-report-reveals-the-system-fueling-the-chaos-in-haiti.html). In an open letter dated October 7, addressed to the experts and forwarded to members of the Security Council—Latortue states that he has repeatedly refuted these allegations, specifically denouncing the use of statements made by a gang leader without sufficient regard for their context. Latortue maintains that he has never known members of Kokorat San Ras, nor has he supported, armed, or funded any criminal group. He believes that insufficiently verified accusations risk damaging his reputation and influencing international decisions regarding Haiti; he calls for reports based on verifiable, individualized evidence, while noting that he has appeared before the Haitian justice system and has been cleared of charges on three separate occasions.
