Military : Airlift from El Salvador : On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, 690 Salvadoran military personnel arrived in Port-au-Prince, bringing the total number of Salvadoran soldiers in Haiti to 1,300 troops who have arrived in less than a week. Three aircraft transported equipment for these forces, establishing a full-scale airlift between El Salvador and Haiti. Additional heavy equipment is expected to reinforce the deployed Salvadoran contingent. According to the Miami Herald, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele intends for his military personnel to remain under independent command—separate from the FRG (Multinational Security Support Mission) and to report only to their own commander on the ground. Furthermore, these troops are not part of the GSF framework; rather, they represent an initiative by a nation friendly to Haiti, operating independently with their own equipment and logistics, and funded entirely by El Salvador. At present, it remains officially unclear who will hold command over these 1,300 Salvadoran personnel, nor is the intended duration of their mission in Haiti known.

Barradères Under Water : The commune of Barradères, in the Nippes department, is facing severe flooding following recent inclement weather. Several neighborhoods are submerged, hindering the movement of residents and disrupting daily life. Images circulating online show streets inundated with water and residential areas heavily impacted. Residents have also reported damage to homes and the loss of personal property. Local inhabitants are calling on the relevant authorities to intervene promptly to assess the extent of the damage and provide assistance to the affected families.

Reshaping of the Congo Ravine effectively protects residents : The reshaping of the Congo Ravine, carried out by the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) as part of the HA-J0007 program, helped protect the residents of Corail during the recent rains that struck the Grande Anse region. Executed under the supervision of CECI, an organization specializing in community-based initiatives, these works, long awaited by the people of Corail, played a crucial role in safeguarding local thoroughfares and property within the commune.

Elections : 19th presidential candidate registers : Lucien Olivier Barrau has officially registered as a presidential candidate under the banner of the Haitian Labor Movement (MTH). He is the 19th candidate to enter the race for the presidency of Haiti. It should be noted that registration does not equate to official confirmation of candidacy.

Weather : All alerts lifted : On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., Haiti’s Hydro-Meteorological Unit (UHM) in coordination with the Directorate of Civil Protection and the Permanent Secretariat for Risk Management announced the lifting of the "Orange" alert for heavy rain and the risk of thunderstorms in the Grande Anse, Sud, Sud-Est, Nippes, and Ouest departments, as well as the "Yellow" alert for the Artibonite and Nord-Ouest departments.

Another literary award for Dany : Haitian writer and member of the Académie Française, Dany Laferrière, has just received one of Quebec’s most prestigious honors : the "Prix Athanase-David". He is being honored for his body of work, the humanism that permeates it, and his immeasurable contribution to the enrichment of both Quebec and world literature. The Ministry joins the Government in congratulating the Academician, and expresses a fervent hope that his life’s journey will inspire young people who are searching for guidance, role models, and paths to follow toward a better future.
