Haiti - FLASH : The State goes on the offensive against terrorists, PM's address to the Nation (video)

Tuesday, November 3rd during a press briefing, following a major strategic meeting with senior officials of the Haitian National Police (PNH), the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) and the Gang Supression Force (GSF) Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé reaffirmed the Government's determination to restore security throughout the national territory and to fully restore the authority of the State in areas controlled by the groups armed.

Under the authority of the Government, the Haitian National Police (PNH), the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) and the Gang Supression Force (GSF) work in a dynamic of coordination and complementarity. The current operations are part of a national strategy aimed at neutralizing armed groups, protecting the population and gradually reconquering the territories affected by the violence.

The strengthening of the GSF, supported by the United Nations and several partner countries, consolidates the intervention capabilities of national forces. This international cooperation in no way replaces the leadership of the Haitian State, which remains responsible for the political and strategic direction of operations.

At the same time, the Government continues to strengthen the capacities of the PNH and FAd’H through recruitment, training, acquisition of equipment and modernization of operational resources. 3,258 new police officers have been recruited through three promotions, while investments in armored vehicles and specialized equipment continue.

Security operations, already underway in several areas, notably in Kenscoff and Gressier, are intended to continue and expand according to operational priorities, particularly in the West, Artibonite and the Center.

The Government emphasizes, however, that this fight will be carried out in strict compliance with the laws of the Republic and human rights. The target is armed gangs, never the civilian population.

The Government's message is unequivocal : the Haitian State will not give up any territory. Armed groups cannot continue to impose their law on the Republic. Operations will continue with determination, coordination and responsibility until public order and state authority are restored.
