Fire at the French Embassy : During the night of Saturday, November 7, 2026, a fire broke out in a technical room at the entrance to the French Embassy in Haiti. The fire was quickly brought under control, and there were no casualties. The French Embassy extends its sincere thanks to the firefighters who worked to contain the blaze, as well as to everyone who sent messages of support and solidarity.

Me Ernest Muscadin resigns : In a letter dated November 6, 2026, Me Patrick Pélissier, Minister of Justice and Public Security, acknowledged receipt of the resignation of Me Jean Ernest Muscadin, known as "the gang hunter", who served as the acting Government Commissioner at the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of First Instance in Miragoâne. It should be noted that Me Muscadin is a candidate in the presidential election representing the Fòs Chanjman Nasyonal party; in accordance with the electoral decree, electoral authorities required his resignation from his position at the Public Prosecutor’s Office in order to continue reviewing his candidacy application.

Previous tax scale remains in effect : The General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) informs income taxpayers that the period mandated by law for filing final income tax returns runs from October 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027. In this regard, the DGI wishes to remind those concerned that the income tax scale in place prior to the enactment of the new Tax Code remains applicable to income earned during the 2025-2026 fiscal year, based on the legal principle that laws are not retroactive.
