Haiti - Politic : Alex Castro's book «Haiti, travel to the kingdom of this world» 20/02/2012 08:40:59 This book which contains over 100 photographs, taken shortly after January 12, 2010, by the son of Fidel Castro, Alex Castro, "does not delight in the destruction but shows the hope of men and women who work hard and build the dream of a heroic and exemplary people," stressed Cuban writer Luis Morlotte at the launch of this book. "These photos are a denunciation of the silence of the international media, who have spoken of Haiti only after the quake," stated the photographer Alex Castro. The photographs are accompanied by texts of Fidel Castro, of the Uruguayan writer Eduardo Galeano, the Cuban novelist Alejo Carpentier (1904-1980) and Dr. Lorenzo Somarriba, Head of the Cuban medical brigade in Haiti. This book is the proof that photography is not a simple reflection of reality, but also questions, clarifies and suggests," declared the Brazilian theologian Frei Betto, in his presentation. Alex Castro, 48 years [of a photographer of his father], is one of five son that the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, had with his current wife, Dalia Soto del Valle. His four other son are Alexander, Anthony, Alexis and Angel. Fidel Castro, [85], has three other children from different women, including Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, the son of his first wife, Mirta Diaz-Balart who is the current advisor of the State Council on scientific matters.
