The Communication Office of the Prime Minister has just informed us that the Prime Minister resigned, Dr. Garry Conille was absent from country for medical reasons, for about a week... without further details.

Recall that Dr. Garry Conille was designated by the Head of State on September 5, 2011, and ratified by a historic vote in the Lower House on September 16, 2011 [89-0] followed by a ratification in the Senate on October 4 [17 for, 3 cons, and 9 abstentions]. Garry Conille resigned from his position of Prime Minister on February 24 2012 for reasons that are still controversial today.

Some observers explain his resignation for his involvement in the fight against corruption and the famous cases of contracts without tender under the Government Préval-Bellerive, others including Senator Edwin Zenny speak rather of deep divergences between the President and the Prime Minister who refused to follow the political agenda of President Martelly.
