Haiti - Justice : The Minister of Justice is trying to reassure the Magistrates on the CSPJ
Following the announcement of the Ministry of Justice and of the Court of Cassation, to create 3 technical commissions, the National Association of Haitian Magistrates and the Bars Federation of Haiti had denounced earlier this week, the new deadlines for the installations of members of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ).

Face the protests and demands expressed, accompanied by a strike threat, Michel Brunache, the Minister of Justice and Public Security has tried to reassure the magistrates.

"...we move forward we are closer than farther, all members are known and have passed the certification process and the commissions that we have put in place are there to accelerate once again the installation of CSPJ; to comply not only the law of November 2007 on the CSPJ, the Organic Law of the Ministry and to make the harmonization between these two laws, so that once the CSPJ installed, it is fully functional.

The commissions have been created, it is precisely to see how we can accelerate the processon the one hand on the budget, searching a premises for the CSPJ and especially, what is most important, to see how skills transfer will be done by the Ministry of Justice towards the CSPJ.

I will not judge the demands of the National Association of Magistrates, the only thing I can say is that it is impatience, while we advance ourselves. There is a determination to install the CSPJ, we move forward, everyone can see that if there was a delay, it does not come from us [...] the installation is definitely for soon. I am totally satisfied, although I understand that everyone wants to go faster..."
