Haiti - Politic : For the Senator Joazile, the debate on the nationality of PM is finished 11/04/2012 12:42:10
Intervening yesterday Tuesday, before the Assembly in the Senate, the Senator Rodolphe Joazile, President of the Commission responsible for analyzing the documents of Laurent Lamothe, declared that in his opinion, the debate concerning the nationality of Laurent Lamothe is finished and implicitly, the Commission on the nationality was divested of the record of the Prime Minister. "...Article 157 of the Constitution clearly states that to become Prime Minister, first it is necessary to be be native-born Haitian and never have renounced to its Haitian nationality. But, the Assembly to which I address President, has set up a Commission to work on members of the Government and this Assembly has set up a second Commission to review the case of the Prime Minister-designate, with as prime objective the first paragraph which says - it must be Haitian and never have renounced to its nationality -. This would mean, to end the debate, that by agreeing to entrust the task of examining the case of Mr. Lamothe to this Commission, the Assembly, without having said [explicitly], has divested the first Commission of case of Mr. Lamothe.
