Haiti - Economy : Kenneth Merten encourages investment in Haiti
Thursday, on a visit to Jacmel, U.S. Ambassador to Haiti Kenneth Merten, come to evaluate the work of the international community since January 12, 2010 declared "[...] honestly, it's not the assistance that is given by Haiti's partners that will transform the country, it can help improve things a bit here and there, but really it is not the assistance that will help the country move forward...

It is the investment, and we encourage investors to come here in Haiti, here to Jacmel to see the possibilities there are in the country [...] I believe that this city has big possibilities for the future, especially in the tourism sector. This is a city that is unique in Haiti, unique in the Caribbean and I am glad to see that the Jacmeliens [inhabitants of Jacmel] are fighting to preserve it [...]"
