Haiti - Humanitarian : The «Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters», with Haiti

The Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, the first major European tournament of tennis of the prestigious category of ATP World Tour Masters 1000, which runs from April 14 to 22, 2012 and welcomes among the 56 registered players the tennis champions like Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray; has decided to support the World Food Programme (WFP) to win the match against hunger.

The tournament has also decided to award a financial contribution in favor of school feeding programs of WFP in Haiti. In 2012, WFP plans to feed about one million Haitian schoolchildren and the generous donation of Tournament, will allow the agency to distribute hot and nutritious meals to 15,000 Haitian children. "We warmly thank the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters for its valuable support which reflects the importance that the Tournament attaches to the of mutual aid and solidarity, often associated with the sporting world," added Ms. Marina Catena, Director of WFP France and the Principality of Monaco.

The partnership between the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters and WFP illustrates the importance of synergies between the sports world and the humanitarian world. "We felt it important to bring us together and to provide the support of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters to the World Food Programme, by offering an additional opportunity to educate the general public on an unacceptable situation, which is one of the major challenges of the 21st century," declared Zeljko Franulovic, the Director of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters.
