Haiti - Health : Official delivery of the clinic Mahotière to the MSPP
The official delivery of the clinic Mahotière (commune of Carrefour) to the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP), took place last week, attended by Mr. Yvon Gerôme, Mayor of the town of Carrefour, the Dr. Hans Legagneur, MSPP Representative, Ambassador of France in Haiti, Didier Le Bret, M. Yves Malpel, Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Haiti, of Ms. Elke Leidel, Head office ECHO, Mr. Ernesto Bafile, general coordinator of Medecins du Monde France and of the local association AJEUDEEC.

This clinic built at a cost of 110,000 euros [± U.S. $ 145.000] was funded by the AFD, as part of a program to improve the availability and quality of health services in reproductive health and perinatal of a total amount of 6 million euros

The French NGO, Médecins du Monde France, contracting authority of the construction, was already present in the area, through a temporary health point, very active especially during the cholera epidemic.

The clinic, with a total area of 220 m2, built in compliance with the standards and recommendations of the Ministry of Works Transport and Communications (MTPTC) is composed of 4 buildings adapted to the activity of medical and administrative services, as well for the patients coming to the clinic, allowing quality work in the hospitality and support.

The clinic Mahotière, will be open 5 days on 7, between 8am and 4pm and will serve an area of 38.000 inhabitants, 5.700 children under 5 years and 9.500 women of childbearing age.
