Haiti - Politic : Launch of Thursdays of the Public Governance

The Thursdays of the Public Governance were launched this week in Port-au-Prince, at the initiative of the Centre of Cooperation Canada-Haiti, as part of the Strengthening Public Management Support Project (PARGEP). This Thursday, will address issues of public interest and national with Haitian and Canadian experts in the field of public service.

Land use planning, governance and reconstruction issues, was the theme of this first day. The debate was opened by Professor Jean Mercier Prophète, engineer and architect.

agalie Cadet Rodrigue, PARGEP Coordinator in Haiti, explained "[...] In the open forums people often run out of ideas, they focus all the time on the political issue... on 'zins'. We want to bring the debate to another level, so that when someone hears a news, it find elements who make it think and ask questions [...] and also for the State to take into consideration the things that are essential for the management of the country. For example today, we talked about the planning, here are many people who do not know what it means, who do not know that it is something essential when leading a country, and I guarantee you that among those who direct us, they are not even aware of the necessity to put the country on the carpet and say : what we will do ? What kind of development we will decide ? They do not do that, they leave the country to grow in an anarchic way [...]"

This Thursdays, want to be of forums, for make known not only the good practices in public administration but also, a meeting place and of debate in public governance.
