Haiti - Politic : Tribute of Martelly at Marron Inconnu 15/05/2012 10:03:48
The ceremony was also an opportunity for the Head of State to relight the eternal flame on the site of Marron Inconnu. This symbolic gesture was applauded by a crowd estimated at several thousand people, by this gesture, the President Martelly wanted to remind the courage of our various heroes for all they have left us "this monument is a constant reminder of the of the dimension of the legacy our ancestors left us. This reminds us our duties as citizens, remember us the bravery of our heroes, as the first black independent nation, which abolished slavery." Moreover, the President of the Republic took advantage of circumstances to announced the renovation among others : of Palais Sans-soucis, the rehabilitation of the Champs de Mars and the reconstruction of public buildings... The Head of State expressed confidence that the revalorization of our history can help us regain our pride today, of first free black people. The Head of State reiterated, loud and clear, our commitment to support the Haitian people in their struggle in favor of the improvement of its living conditions.
