Haiti - Humanitarian : A new orphanage-school in Croix-des-Bouquets
The Foundation Jacqueline Lessard, Imavision and Oxfam-Québec are proud to announce the completion of construction of the school-orphanage of the Foundation Jacqueline Lessard, in Croix des Bouquets. The orphanage-school includes 3 buildings: a school for 400 students of the community, an orphanage can accommodate 80 children and a service building (kitchen, playground, toilet block). The primary mission of the Foundation Jacqueline Lessard is to ensure and defend the interests and welfare of children in Haiti.

This project was created thanks to the support of businesses and of the people of Quebec who helped raise the $1.8 million needed for the construction of the orphanage-school. In addition, fifteen young adults in Quebec, some graduates of schools of construction trades, have participated in the construction project, along with forty Haitian workers.

Oxfam-Québec provided its expertise as an administrator of funds for the construction project and ensured the proper management of public donations of Quebec public. Expenses related to the construction of the orphanage-school meet the standards, rules and procedures in term of international cooperation.

The Foundation Jacqueline Lessard thank the generous support of businesses and organizations of Quebec partners who made possible this project : Groupe Jean Coutu, Pomerleau, Provencher Roy+associates, SM Group International and CIMA+and Couche-Tard, Fasken Martineau, Simplex, Laferté Renovation Centre, Air Transat, lg2, School Board of Montreal, Quebec, the Bombardier Foundation, Scotiabank and the Ministry of International Relations. The Foundation also thanks the 3.460 donors who have supported the project.
