Haiti - Diplomacy : 3 new Ambassadors accredited to Haiti
The President Michel Martelly, received Tuesday, May 29, at the National Palace, the credentials of three 3 new Ambassadors accredited to Haiti. They are Ms. Susanne R. Haekkeruph of Denmark, Mr. Paul Robotham of Jamaica and Mr. John Peter Opdahl of Norway, which was accompanied by Vice-Consuls and honorary consuls of their respective countries.

The Head of State assured them of his willingness to work to strengthen their ties of friendship and wished that their cooperation will be fruitful both for their country and for the Haitian people and the new Ambassadors have renewed the commitment of their respective nations to maintain and strengthen the existing ties of cooperation between Haiti and their country.

Statements of ambassadors after submission of credentials :

Ambassador Susan R. Haekkerup : (Danemark)
"[...] This is a great honor for me to present my credentials to President Martelly, it is with satisfaction that I met the President to discuss relations between Denmark and Haiti. Denmark has supported Haiti [since January 12, 2010] and we want to continue working with Haiti, in the manner we can in order to help the country to develop economically so that it resume its course [...]"

Ambassador Paul Robotham (Jamaica)
"[...] It is a pleasure and an honor to have met President Martelly and to have given him the letters that I accrediting me as mbassador of Jamaica to Haiti. You know, the links between Haiti and Jamaica dates back over 200 years, dating back to Boukman, national hero, the forerunner of Independence, son of Jamaica. My appointment coincides with the arrival in Jamaica of a new government, this means I hope, the beginning of cooperative relationships more fruitful, more just, between our two friendly peoples. I would like to express on behalf of the people and Government of Jamaica, my wishes for peace, prosperity and social welfare, to the people and Government of Haiti [...]"

Ambassador John Peter Opdahl : (Norway)
"[...] I thank the President Martelly for the welcome he gave me, it is an honor for me to have discussions with him, on the relations between Norway and Haiti. We really helped Haiti after the earthquake and we want to continue working with Haiti. We are very optimistic about the topics we discussed, and we are working on issues concerning energy and the environment. We are also very interested in supporting gender equality and we compliment the Government of Haiti, which has a percentage of women, of 40%, at the lvel of the new Cabinet [...]"
