Haiti - Culture : «Pages d’histoire» of Daniel Supplice - 3rd book fair of Washington 31/05/2012 10:08:50 At the initiative of The Greater Washington Haiti Relief Commitee, writers evolving both in the diaspora and in Haiti will share their vision of the world with the public who will travel to Washington. Marie Thérèse Labossière, Laurent Dubois, Gary Victor, Emmelie Prophète, Jessica Fièvre, Josaphat Robert Large, Rafaël Confiant, Joël Desrosiers, Evelyne Trouillot, Ernest Pépin, Robert Berrouet-Oriol, among others. The organizers of this event intend to give Francophone youth in North America the opportunity to discover and to appropriate the works of this generation of writers. These authors through their work have contributed and still contribute to make known the rich Haitian culture through award-winning productions by juries advised. Daniel Supplice is the author of numerous books including : ...de l’émigration clandestine 1970-1980 (1980) - Haïti préhistorique: quelques dessins ornementaux précolombiens. Learn more about Daniel Supplice : Daniel Supplice was born in Port-au-Prince on February 9, 1951, ethnologist, sociologist, history buff and collector of old Haitian documents. He completed his primary and secondary Institution St. Louis de Gonzague in Port-au-Prince and his graduate studies at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston, Mass.; Faculty of Anthropology, State University of Haiti; University of Miami (Graduate School). He has held the following positions: Consul General in Tokyo, Japan (1973-1974), First Secretary, Embassy of Haiti, Rome, Italy (1974-1976), First Secretary, Embassy of Haiti, Mexico City (1976 - 1977), Deputy Director General of Immigration and Emigration (1977-1979), Director General of Immigration and Emigration (1979), Under-Secretary of State for the Interior and Defense National (1979-1981), Assistant Secretary of State for Social Affairs (1981-1983), Secretary of State for Social Affairs (1983-1985), Secretary of State for Immigration and Emigration (1985 ) Secretary of State for Social Security and Housing (1985), Minister of Social Affairs (1985-1986). Founding Director of the Primary School Saint Sébastien (1987), founder member and secretary of the Board of Parc du Souvenir, Espace SA (1988); columnist for the newspaper "Le Nouvelliste" (1990-1994), Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Métrobanque (1994), founding member and member of the Coordination nationale de Génération 2004 (1994) ; Senate candidate for the department of the West under the banner Espace de Concertation in the elections of May 21, 2000, Professor of Sociology and History of Civilization; founding member of the party Parti populaire du Renouveau haïtien (PPRH), member of party Parti Libéral Haïtien (PLH), Senate candidate for the West department nder the banner of PLH in the elections of November 2005.
