Me Thierry Mayard-Paul, the Minister of Interior, proceeded, Tuesday, June 5 at the installation of Claude Raymond Junior [former Deputy Director] at the head of the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE). He replaces Roland Chavannes, who led the DIE for 8 years.

The Minister explained this change "...in the new administration ... we need to boost the Directorate, Mr. Chavannes will remain as a consultant, the Deputy Director has been promoted in his place.

We are already studying the establishment of a body border to monitor the border, because we loses about 40 to 50 million U.S. dollars per month, due to smuggling... That's one of the big projects we have.

We also have a project of coast guard [...] we will also monitor the migratory flow of foreigners entering and leaving the country, whether by boat or by road and who do not pay anything, we need to control all these things [...]

we will also enter into the civil affairs of state, because you know that abroad, the offices of Immigration and Emigration handle the State Civil Affairs. We will produce these documents on a digitized sheet, which can not be faked, like the old papers.
