Haiti - Diaspora Atlanta : The Consulate can help in cases of detention...

The Consulate General of Haiti in Atlanta reminds to the family members or friends of a person detained, or who is in custody in prisons in our region, that they can contact the Consulate for a rapid assessment of the situation 2911 Piedmont Road NE, Atlanta GA 30305 tel: 404-228-5373 / 404-748-1128].

However, it is important to note that the Consulate can not provide Legal advice or representation in court. Nevertheless, according to Article 36 paragraph 1 of the Vienna Convention, at the request of the detainee, the authorities must notify or allow to these detainees to contact the office of the Consulate.

The Consulate General of Haiti in Atlanta is authorized to make arrangements for legal representation of its citizens and provide a wide range of humanitarian organizations and other forms of assistance, with the consent of the detainee.

The Consulate recommends you to share this information widely, with your friends or a member of your family, which may have need our help. Do not risk to be victims, because of the ignorance of your rights as a foreigner.
