Haiti - Reconstruction : Major Road infrastructure projects 09/07/2012 14:03:03

According to the engineer Jacques Rousseau, Minister of Works, Transport and Communications, the Government Martelly-Lamothe is about to launch very soon of major road infrastructure projects in many parts of the country. As of November [or before] many sites must begin.
- Extension of the road from the capital to Petite Rivière des Nippes (first section in progress - Vorbe company). Pending the achievement of this extension, the construction of two bridges concerned by this road will start soon [completed studies].
- National Route # 5, section Carrefour "Jof" - Port de Paix ± 74 km. Two major bridges will be built to Acul and Mancel as part of this road [Tender already started].
- Construction of the bridge Lateme (Mirebalais) [start: October, 15 months duration, financing World Bank].
- Construction of several sections on the national road # 3 between the capital and Cap-Haitien, through the Central Plateau [scheduled launch: end of the year]: section Hinche / Saint-Raphaël [± 44 km] work begun [time 30 months, funded by the European Union and the French Development Agency (AFD)]. Section Saint Raphaël - Carrefour Menard, complementing the national # 3 [tender already started]
- Construction of the road Lascahobas Belladère up to Cachiman ± 32 km [start: November, funded by the European Union].
- National Road # 8 that leading to the Dominican Republic, section Croix-des-Bouquets to Fonds Parisiens, ± 31 km [funded by the Interamerican Development Bank upcoming launch of the tender]
- National Road # 8, section Fond Parisians / Malpasse [ongoing feasibility studies, financing European Union].
- Route Nationale # 1, Gonaïves to Cap-Haitien, section Gonaïves-Ennery , ± 30 km, [ongoing studies, IDB financing].
- Sections Ennery-Plaisance and Plaisance / Cap-Haitien provided in the draft budget 2012-2013 [temporary improvement while waiting for the final cost of work].
- Road linking the South to Grand Anse department [under construction].
- Section Les Cayes / Camp-Perrin, [under construction - CNE].
- Section Camp Perrin / Jérémie [under construction - Brazilian company OAS].
- Beginning of construction of the first two elevated roads in the capital. The first will leave Delmas 17 and 19 to finish at the Martin Luther King Avenue [start: before the end of the year]. The second will be built in the commune of Carrefour.
