![]() Haiti - Politic : The Senate deadlocked ? 21/07/2012 13:23:54
The only common point of these two groups is that none of the two, is able to get alone, a quorum (16) required to hold a plenary session... For the G8 minority, all means are justified to prevent the reduction of the quorum to 11 [currently set to 16], refusing to lose the powerful power to overturn a quorum. It is for this reason, that Wednesday, during the resumption of the first session of Senate, after the support of Senator Lambert to the proposal proposal of teven Benoît on the lowering of quorum, the G8 alked out in protest and conditioned its attendance at the session of Thursday, to the fact that the reduction of the quorum is not on the agenda. Without solutions for the moment, the G12 is in the situation, where it has no other choice than to accept the conditions imposed by the G8, if it wants be able to hold a session. A situation where consensual dialogue "of the Sages", which should take into account above all the interests of the population and nation, is replaced by a power relationship "brutal", hich is based more on the threat and the political interests, than on looking for a constructive compromise.
