A delegation of the Parliamentary Front of Latin America and the Caribbean against hunger, led by her President, the Dominican deputy, Gaudalupe Valdez, was received Friday in Haiti, by of senators and deputies. At this meeting also took part, Rose Anne Auguste, the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of human rights and the fight against extreme poverty, as well as her colleague, Mary Mimose Félix, for the promotion of the peasantry. The Parliamentary Front, is composed of eleven Latin American countries, including the Dominican Republic. This is a platform of advocacy for security and food sovereignty where its members are committed to the fight against hunger, become the priorities of public policy of government and also a real right. Their efforts are part, according to Guadalupe Valdez, of a "multisectoral perspective" including free access to basic social services like health and education. The Minister Auguste welcomed with joy the visit of the Parliamentary Front, calling his creation "of initiative carrier for Haiti" and hoped that the links between parliamentarians latino-American and of Caribbean can be consolidated. "It is necessary to have more exchanges between the peoples [...] You can not fight against food insecurity without exchanges [...] They must also be done through the transfer of technology and know-how," recalling that the peoples latino-American and of Caribbean, atino-American and of Caribbean common crops such as cassava, banana and mango. "We must unite to solve the causes of poverty, fight against poverty and have food sovereignty," said Rose Anne Auguste.
The Haitian parliament, who must integrate the Front, have also formed a block against hunger. For its part, the Administration Martelly-Lamothe has established several programs to fight against extreme poverty, which promote self-sufficiency and the improving of conditions of the population ["Aba grangou", "Ti manman cheri" and "kredi woz"]. Simon Dieusel Desras, the President of the Haitian Senate, wishes "the institutionalization and the strengthening of program Aba grangou," as structure of fight against hunger and advocates for the establishment of a fund for the benefit of the most vulnerable populations.
