Haiti - Security : 34 new police officers join the elite corps of the BRI
Friday, July 27, 34 aspiring police officers of the Brigade of Intervention and Research (BRI) of the Police Nationale d'Haiti (PNH) have received their diplomaof end of training and joined the ranks of this elite corps. Provided at the Police Academy by a joint team of trainers of the PNH and UN Police (UNPOL), the training consistedin tests of physical ability, shooting practice, and interpellation, medical tests and an oral interview.

During the official ceremony of graduation held at the Police Academy in the presence of Godson Orelus, the Director of the Central Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ), of Jean Miguelite Maximé, the Director of the Police Academy, and of trainers from the United Nations police, the 34 new recruits of the BRI did a demonstration of hostage rescue and to apprehension of suspects.

First mission for these new elements: participate in the security device during the "Carnival of Flowers" in Port-au-Prince from July 29 to 31 among the some 5,000 elements of the PNH, deployed for this event.

With the recruitment of these 34 new police officers, staff of the BIS increased from 10 to 44 members.
