Haiti - Sports : Moise Joseph, is not qualified for the semifinals of 800 meters
This Monday morning August 6, 2012, in London as part of the 30th Olympic Games, Moise Joseph [bib 2027], participated in the 7th race at lane #2 of 800 meters, alongside of Davide Kleberson of Brazil, Mutekanga Julius of Uganda, Solomon Duane of the United States of America, Olivier Andre of South Africa, Enzema Benjamin of Equatorial Guinea, Lathouwers Robert of the Netherlands and Holusa Jakub of the Czech Republic.

After this race, Moise Joseph, who finished in 6th place (of his series), and 36th of 52 overall with a time of 1:48.46 seconds [his personal best of 1:45.74 and and his best score for the season 1:47.34], does not qualify for the semi-finals to be held this Tuesday, Aug. 7.

This race was won by Duane Solomon (USA) in 1:46.05. The world record in this discipline is 1:41.01 seconds (Kenya) and the Olympic record 1:42.58 seconds (Norway)...

Competition format
The competition starts with heats. The number of heats and the number of athletes progressing to the next round depends on the number of athletes competing. In each heat the fastest athletes go through, as well as a set number of the fastest losers across all the heats. The following rounds run on the same format, until eight athletes are through to compete in the final.

The draw to determine which heat athletes run in is decided by their initial seedings (based on previous performance) for the first round, and then their performances after that. This ensures that the highest seeded athletes are not drawn in the same heat.
