Haiti - Environment : 15,000 jobs in Upper Artibonite
Some 15,000 people are expected to find, on the basis of a rotation of 15 days, a job, during the three months of implementation of a soil conservation project in Saint-Michel de l'Attalaye (Upper Artibonite).

Launched by the section of the Community Violence Reduction (CVR) of the Minustah in Artibonite and the local NGO 'Alliance des Cadres Polyvalents pour le Développement Durable et Intégré (ACPODDI)', and funded to the tune of 174.224 U.S. dollars by the mission, this project consists among others to treat 6.112 linear meters of gully and planting more than 25,000 fruit trees and forest in Camathe and Bas-de-Saut, respectively second and third municipal section of Saint-Michel de l’Attalaye (Upper Artibonite).

According to the agronomist Josué Anderson Charlecein, Project, 20,000 seedlings of vetiver, 101.661 cuttings of sugar cane industrial and 10,000 pineapple suckers will also be made ​​available to the public in order to contribute to the strengthening to the agricultural production of the zone. In addition, 50 technicians will be trained in watershed management and treatment of gullies and twenty local officials will be aware to the techniques of conflict resolution.
