Haiti - Diplomacy : The President Martelly, will meet with the Presidents of Dominican Republic and of Honduras (UPDATE 16-08)
The President Michel Martelly, who should be accompanied by the First Lady, Sophia Martelly, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, of Secretary of the Presidency Grégory Mayard-Paul and other members of the government leaves today for the Dominican capital to assist tomorrow Thursday, at the inauguration of President-elect of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina, with whom he will meet this Wednesday, reports the communications office of the Presidency of Haiti.

Upon arriving in Santo Domingo, the President Martelly will meet with his counterpart of Honduras, Porfirio Lobo Sosa, to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation. After his meeting with the President-elect Medina, the Chief of the Haitian state, will attend a dinner hosted by the outgoing President, Leonel Fernandez, in honor of Heads of State and Government participating in the inauguration of Danilo Medina.

A group of 15 Heads of State and of Government, Vice-Chancellors and the Prince Felipe of Spain, will assist tomorrow, Thursday, at the inauguration of new President of the Dominican Republic. Taiwan announced the visit of Vice President, Wu Den-yih, while local media reported the presence of Vice-Presidents of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez, of Peru, Marisol Espinoza Cruz, of Costa Rica, Alfio Piva Messines, and of Prime Minister of Curacao, Gerrit Francisco Schotte...

Before returning to Haiti, the President Martelly will attend a meeting at the Embassy of Haiti in Santo Domingo, where he will inaugurate the new consular section and the service of the Immigration, as well as the library of the Embassy, which will be open to public from Thursday.

The Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, who is currently in Santo Domingo gave more details on the agenda of the delegation "...there are plenty of Head of State and Government who are there, more than 14, we will meet the President of Colombia at an official dinner, and tomorrow [Thursday] morning we have meetings with the Vice-President of Taiwan [Wu Den-yih], then we go to the inauguration of President Medina, then we will have various meetings [...] we will meet the President of Suriname [Dési Bouterse], the Colombian Chancellor [María Ángela Holguín] and several other meeting which will be of interest to Haiti. Then Friday we have meetings of social order, we will examine the Solidaridad program is a program that helps more than 4 million people living in need in the Dominican Republic, we will look at how this program works [...] and how we can improve our program of social protection [...] we will also visit popular canteens, public markets, various infrastructure [...] Once again this allows Haiti to benefit from the experience of other countries, of how things are done in other countries, and how we can improve the way we do things in Haiti..."
