Haiti - Humanitarian : Oxfam is preparing for any eventuality
Oxfam teams in Haiti are working to prepare communities to deal with the damage that could cause the storm Isaac, who could hit the country in the next hours. The organization is also preparing to provide assistance in case of need, in drinking water, equipment for temporary shelters, hygiene kits and public information campaigns to assist in the prevention of the spread of cholera and other waterborne diseases.

According to Oxfam, with the forecast of rain and wind gusts up to 119 km/h, there is a high risk of floods and landslides, of damage at the level of roads and buildings, and crop losses in rural areas. The situation of 390.000 IDPs living in the camps and the fate of other vulnerable communities, particular concern the humanitarian organization.

OXFAM is encouraged by the steps taken by the Civil Protection of Haiti in anticipation of the arrival of ISAAC, but remains concerned because the risks remain high.
