Haiti - Agriculture : End of the first phase of training courses on protected agriculture

As part of efforts to modernize agriculture, the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR) organized with the support of IICA and a funding of the USDA/CARDI, a training on protected agriculture (in greenhouses).

42 professionals from diverse backgrounds (private companies, universities, NGOs ...) have taken part in the training of 4 weeks and completed the first phase [theoretical] of 3 weeks in Haiti. Participants will stay in the Dominican Republic from September 3 to 7, 2012 for the second phase practical of this training.

The Minister Thomas Jacques has renewed to the participants the MARNDR interest to promote this technology which should help to improve domestic production and help to respond to food security problems. The Minister Jacques also stressed the need to promote, at all levels, the agro-entrepreneurship, only possible way for sustainable development of the agricultural sector.
