Haiti - Economy : The Ministers defend their budget before the Senate Committee
Monday, August 27, the Ministers of Communication, Defence, Trade and Tourism together with the Secretary General of the Primature have, during 5 hours, answered to the questions of Senators of the Finance Committee concerning the budget of their ministry.

Ady Jean Gardy, the Minister of Communications, defended to the Senate this Monday, August 27, before the Finance Commission, a program of interconnection of communes of the country, by favoring 133 communes for the installation of a communication network prioritizing the new information technologies. He also reported the presence of representatives of Ministry in 10 departmental offices with a radius of action on the various boroughs and the 142 communes. Several parliamentarians would have offered to concede spaces to the Ministry of Communication to facilitate its work. Jocelerme Privert, President of the Finance Committee pointed out that there "more than 133 communes" and hoped that others will not be forgotten. The Minister of Communications has promised to act gradually.

Jean Rodolphe Joazile, the Minister of Defence, for his part, has highlighted a civil defense plan by the implementation of constitutional norms of compulsory civic service and mixed. He also emphasized the need for his Ministry to establish reliable structures for the protection of our borders and defend the territory at all levels.

Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, for her part, insisted on a range of projects across the country while noting that the Government's current policy is to prioritize the establishment of tourist regions by injecting massive funds on them, in order to create poles of attraction as in some countries of the region. The Minister of Tourism has brilliantly presented of rigorous arguments in order to defend its programs and budget lines that have been allocated in this sense.

Michel Brunache, the Secretary General of the Primature has finally summarized the main priorities of the Primature and briefly informed the Assembly of Senators of projects implemented by the Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe in order to achieve the objectives of its General Policy Statement .

In addition, Tuesday, August 28, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, accompanied by Marie Carmelle Jean-Marie Minister of Economy and Finance, od Secretaries of State for Tax Reform, Ronald Décembre and Planning, Wilner Valcin , of Directors General of the General Administration of Customs, of the Unit for Combating Corruption, of Taxes and the Deputy Director General of MPCE, has strongly defended before the Senate of the Republic the revised budget, provided in the Finance Bill 2012-2013.

Laurent Lamothe, also Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, believes that to get results, the Government must afford its policy. In lively exchanges, the Prime Minister held to explain to the Senators of the Republic that a large part of the country is yet to be built after the earthquake of January 2010, in spite of the reconstruction projects already underway and despite the limited resources allowed by the budgets.

The Senators have promised to get back to work, in order to vote the budget for the next year, within the time prescribed by law.
