Haiti - Politic : Discussions around the confidence in the electoral process
President Michel Martelly, met during the day of Thursday, August 30, at the Karibe, as part of numerous consultations around the the formation of the Permanent Electoral Council (CEP) and the organization of elections, all sectors involved in the electoral issues.

In a first time, the Head of State held, with the members of civil society, and in a second time, of representatives of political parties, an open dialogue, which concluded on proposals of agreement, that can lead to restore confidence among all sectors.

The participants expressed their concerns and expectations, they have focused mostly on the need for continuous discussions and on the confidence to establish and to strengthen within the electoral apparatus. Some speakers insisted on of proposals, such as meetings between the political parties represented in Parliament and those that are not, in order to fill the empty chairs in the CEP.

Several parties and platforms represented whose the Mochrena, Veye yo, Ansanm nou fò, the Conaced, the Padem, Ayiti An Aksyon and Repons payzan, have congratulated the Head of State to give priority to dialogue in conflict resolution and of his determination to engage in the legal and constitutional way. All expressed the same desire to see the CEP completed as soon as possible and have engaged in the way of constructive proposals, which will be analyzed by the Presidency.

By late evening, the President Martelly also had a working session with a group of Deputies, alwaysfrom the perspective to complete the Permanent Electoral Council. Thse parliamentarians who have not hidden their determination to nominate two representatives to the CEP hope that the senators will quickly formula to also designate their member.

This series of discussions, initiated by the President Martelly, since Tuesday, seeking to smooth the electoral path, in order to create a climate of trust among all stakeholders which should contribute to the success of the electoral process. This initiative of the President, praised by some and criticized by others, demonstrates its willingness to facilitate the conduct of elections free, fair, inclusive and transparent.

For his part, the Head of State welcomed the proposals and commended the will and choice of parties represented, to go in the direction of advancement of the electoral process, while correcting the flaws. He therefore hope, that everyone, in its political sphere continues to show good faith and objectivity for the collective welfare, reiterating his commitment to continue and facilitate the intersectoral dialogue, ensuring that there is no interference on the independence of another power.
