Haiti - Politic : Smarck Michel (1937 - 2012), message from the Government
The President Michel Martelly and Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, has learned with dismay the news of the death of former Prime Minister of Haiti, Michel Smack occurred this Saturday 1st September at the age of 75 years.

In this painful circumstance, the Head of State, on behalf of the Haitian people, salute the departure of Michel and address its sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased. The Prime Minister added his voice to that of the whole of the Government and people of Haiti to wish his sincere sympathies to the family and friends of the former Head of Government who has served his country with patriotism.

Smarck Michel, born in Saint-Marc March 29, 1937, was appointed as Prime Minister by President Jean Bertrand Aristide and ratified by Parliament on 6 November 1994. He held this position until November 7, 1995, and resigned on 13 October 1995.
