Haiti - Politic : Strengthening of the freedom of speech and of structures of the press...

Friday, at the initiative of the Ministry of Communication, the President Michel Martelly and the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, met at the Hotel Montana, several directors and media owners of Haiti around of strengthening freedom of speech and of structures of the independent press and community.

During this convivial meeting, which was attended by Mario Dupuy, Minister of Culture, Guyler C. Delva, Secretary of State for Communication and Jean Marie Guillaume, Director General of the National Council of Telecommunications (CONATEL), the President of the Republic and Head of Government have recalled the important role played by the press organs at the passage of Isaac in Haiti.

The two highest authorities of the executive, also urged media workers and media owners to prioritize the image of Haiti.

The President Martelly, who has once again reiterated its commitment to provide support to the media, especially to the media affected by the passage of Isaac, has advocated in favor of a permanent dialogue between the Executive and the Press in order to move in the right direction.

The Head of Government who opts for the open access and the free circulation of information concerning the operation of the state, is committed to working with the media to enable them to fully play their role in the strengthening of democracy and the rule of law in the country.
