Haiti - Health : 3 «Simile Clinics» will open in September

Three Simile Clinics (Cliniques Sourire), located in Petite Place Cazeau (Northeast of Port-au-Prince), Marigot (Southeast of Haiti) and Jean Denis (Northwest of Haïti) will be operational in September and will be added to the clinic Béthanie (Martissant, South of Port-au-Prince), operational since April 9, 2012. With an average of 100 deliveries per month, those clinics are among the 40 busiest maternity hospitals in Haiti.

The Smile Clinics are designed to provide all the reproductive health services, with qualified personnel to ensure the Basic Emergency Obstetrical and Neonatal Care (SONUBs).

The establishment of those Smile Clinics is the result of a partnership between the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme and Pan American Health Organization/WorldHealth Organization (PAHO/WHO).

This project is part of supporting the national policy aimed at reducing maternal mortality and promoting proximity maternity hospitals with an excellent cost/efficiency ratio.
