Haiti - Social : Winner of logo contest and modernization plan of the OPH 06/09/2012 09:41:20
Ms. Pascale Blanchard, designer by profession, specializing in editorial design and Branting, led the magazine "Revista Gente" and worked for the newspaper El Caribe in the Dominican Republic. A symbolic premium 25,000 gourdes was awarded to the winner. The Winner presented its logo, a large bird carrying an envelope, blue and orange with the slogan "Simplify Your Life" (Simplifiez votre vie) explaining "We wanted to make a difference with the old logos that were still blue and white [...]," stressing that this new blend of colors brings to the Haitian Post, the dynamics and modernity. The OPH said that all proposals were unique and have been taken into consideration by the Board of Directors of the OPH, which set its final decision on the logo presented by Ms. Pascale Blanchard and thanked all the contestants . Moreover Régine Godefroy, Director of the Post Office of Haiti, presented in a few points, the outline of the modernization of the Post Office. "[...] First, it was the establishment of the image. Secondly the recovery of logistics, so that the routings can be done more quickly at the level of import, export or inland. Thirdly is to restore public confidence, in the factors that come to bear a package or envelope. Now, the factors will be clearly identified with a uniform and a badge. Finally, the OPH will provide services. The post will no longer be a place where you will only send a letter or receive a package. The post will become a place to go if you need an extract of archive, buy minutes, phone cards, or make a deposit or withdraw money. We will have a kind of banking system where you will have a small bank book and we will not ask requirements as commercial banks. You will be able to change money, deposit money and withdraw. Clearly, this is what the recovery plan of the OPH. I would not say at very short term, but rather over the medium term, because we have financial constraints. If we did not have financial constraints, I would say that within 6 months we would have already started to put it all in motion.
