Haiti - Education : Training in tourism in Antigua & Barbuda
Four Haitian students [Jacquy, Shelda, Christele et Nicolas] arrived last Thursday in Antigua for a training of 2 years in culinary arts, baking and pastry arts, food and beverage management and hospitality and tourism management at Antigua & Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute. A further six Haitian students will join the current four in October.

Antigua & Barbuda is the first country in the CARICOM region to welcome students from Haiti, through the Haiti Fund of the Caribbean Hotels & Tourist Association Education Foundation.

Colin C James, CEO of the tourism authority, accompanied by Louise John, who is leading the project has welcomed our students in the Big Banana VIP lounge of the VC Bird International Airport. It was the first time that these young people left Haiti and their enthusiasm was recognizable before what they have described as "incredible opportunity."
