Haiti - Football : The Grenadiers qualified for the second round of the Gold Cup

Tuesday, at Sylvio Cator stadium, in the first qualifying round of the Gold Cup (Copa Caribbean), the Grenadiers, after having crushed Friday, in their first match Saint-Martin (7-0), then defeated Bermuda 3-1 Sunday, have qualified for the second and final phase of qualifying, by winning in front of nearly 10,000 fans, the match against Puerto Rico (3-1).

A first period dominated by Haitians where Jeff Louis and Jean Eudes Maurice have challenged the visitors' defense but playing bad luck, have missed three good chances to score.

At half-time 0-0.

After the break, in the second half the Grenadiers were able to mekes the difference in the 65th minute on penalty, Jean-Philippe Peguerro scored the first goal on the board of Grenadiers (1-0) followed by a second shot on goal (73') by Jean Eudes Maurice (2-0). Visitors in a final burst have narrowed the gap to a final score of 2-1.

Haiti is at the head of ranking of Group I, qualified with 9 points as well as Puerto Rico (second in Group I) qualified with 6 points. Our Grenadiers, led by the Cuban, Blake Contero, will begin the final phase of qualifying in Grenada from 20 to 24 October 2012.
