Tuesday, Marie Carmelle Jean-Marie, Minister of Economy and Finance, has proceeded with the installation of Jean Fritz Jean-Louis to the position of Director General of the National Lottery of Haiti, nearly 13 years since the closure of this institution.

Among the objectives set by the Minister to the new director, this latter, will have, among other things, to oversee the private actors, egulate the activities, protect the public, ensure the integrity and morality of practices, recover the duties and taxes due to the Haitian government and prepare within a month, a draft law on the operation of the National Lottery of Haiti.

Jean Fritz Jean-Louis said he was aware of the importance of the task that awaits him, and promises to make every effort to achieve the objectives and restore to the National Lottery of Haiti, its primary vocation which is to support the Treasury by improving state revenues.

Created under the Government of Louis Borno in 1927, the National Lottery of Haiti, whose statutes were revised in 1958, had ceased its activities in December 1999.
