The Executive has created, Friday, Sept. 14, a Price stabilization Commission composed of representatives of the Primature, of Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI), of Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR), of Council of Economic and Social Development (CDES), and of the National Coordination for Food Security (CNSA). The Commission's mandate is to propose, in consultation with the private sector and farmer organizations, of measures to stabilize the prices of foods considered "sensitive" because of their importance in the Haitian food basket.

Friday, The Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, who was to La Saline, and promised to the population, a decline in the price of rice on the local market to relieve small grants [the bag of 25lbs of rice is sold at 1,000 gourdes] "The price of rice is too high on the market. I'm working on a program that I have to present to the President Martelly, in order to get a decline in the prices by next week."

To this end, he announced that a ministerial committee formed by the Primature, would import 300,000 bags of rice in order to bring down the price of the product on a highly speculative market and invited the importers, wholesalers and retailers to demonstrate serenity, concerning the anticipations of unfounded speculation.
