Haiti - Education : Inauguration of the National School of Anse-à-Veau
Thursday, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by Vanneur Pierre, Minister of National Education, of his Adviser, Mr. Florentino Latortue and Klaus Eberwein, Director General of Fund of Economic and Social Assistance (FAES), went in the department of Nippes, where he inaugurated the National School of Anse-à-Veau and distributed school kits to students.

The Deputy of the constituency, Wilner Guervil in presence of several local personalities, thanked the President for his keen interest for the department of Nippes, which had been in the past, neglected by the central government. The Deputy also congratulated the President for his total commitment in the struggle for universal education.

The Minister of Education, emphasized, for his part, on the willingness of the Head of State to improve the living conditions of every Haitian.

The President Martelly insisted on the development of playgrounds and the improvement of the environment of schoolchildren, in parallel to the improvement of the quality of education. He also called for the integration of vocational training into the curriculum at the level of 3rd cycle.

The new building of the school mixed of Anse-à-Veau, that will host 649 students (329 girls and 320 boys), was built through a funding of the World Bank 15,238,721.26 Gourdes, as part of Program for the reconstruction of School Establishments (PURES) of FAES.

This new facility includes six classrooms of 50 m2, an administrative block, a toilet block, a playground and a dining room with a kitchen and deposit. he construction lasted seven months and helped create 1.450 jobs.
