Haiti - Economy : Construction of 5 motorcycle repair centers

The Section of Community Violence Reduction (CVR) of the Minustah, finance to the tune of U.S. $200,000, the establishment of five community centers of troubleshooting and repair of motorcycles in five communes of the North (Limbé, Limonade, Quartier Morin, Plaine du Nord et Cap-Haïtien). This project, launched on September 6, 2012, will extend over 6 months, and also includes the training of 90 young mechanics in Cap-Haitien.

The first 15 recipients of this training which started at the beginning of August, were recruited in Limbé [27 km south of Cap-Haïtien] where the first of the 5 motorcycle repair centers and of service is under construction at a cost of U.S. 40,000. For Dagobert Frantzdy, the President of the Municipal Board of Limbé, this project "will contribute to reducing idleness and consequently to the development and progress in the Peace, of the municipality."

Built by the local NGO Action Bon Berger, on a space of 96 m2 provided by the municipal authorities, the Centre of Limbé, will have a workshop for mechanics, administrative offices, a repository for the storage of tools and equipment, a generator, compressors and a complete set of tools.
