The Group of reflection and action for a new Haiti (GRAHN) introduced in 2011 a program of Award of Excellence aimed at recognizing and present an example the individuals or organizations that embody its values ​​at the national level. It is also to perpetuate the memory of hundreds of thousands of people whose life was taken by the January 12 earthquake that GRAHN instituted this program of Award of Excellence. Finally, it is to honor the thousands of anonymous all over the country who work in the shadows to improve the lives and maintain hope in their immediate environment and beyond.

In this approach, the GRAHN seeks to strengthen in the country a culture of excellence in all spheres of activities, with an emphasis on the collective success and the concern for the common good. This culture of excellence refers to this natural reflex that characterizes all human being normally constituted to return towards what is best for their loved ones, heal its deep wounds, calm its intense pain, meet its urgent needs, solve its complex problems, etc... The excellence corresponds therefore to this ideal that must pursue all society desirous of progress and well-being, to this necessity of aim ever higher to avoid stagnation, drifts, and the descent into hell. The approach of GRAHN fits in the quest for social progress through the promotion and encouragement of people who embody the taste for work well done, the perseverance in the quest for a better world, the surpassing of self and the sense of ethics.

As part of the first edition of the program, the International Jury of Selection 2012 (JIS-2012) has retained the candidacy of 16 individuals and organizations that will receive an public tribute, during a ceremony Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 5pm to 8pm, at Karibe Convention Center in Petion-Ville.
